Freakish Friday

Book Dragons, I do apologize for Freakish Friday being late. I was having technical difficulties and so it is with much regret I could not publish until today. Our Gem is quite beautiful, like a large Tiger’s Eye bead. It shines and captivates. It looks lovely and harmless. Perfect in it’s formation and harmless in it’s presence. Carefully we hold this Gem with a set of magic silver tongs..quickly look and then put it back in the black box it came in. For it has a reputation like Tiger’s Eye…it seems to see everything and know everything. This Gem’s personal name is ALT, though it’s professional name is “Rising Up” by Gem Maker Tanya Ross.

Ross leads us on a tale that could very well have begun “Once upon a time..”. This is the tale of an Empath named Ember, who lives in the domed Utopia of Tranquility. There are Ten Accords for keeping this utopia in good running order. As long as people follow these and agree to wear an ‘alt’ to have their mood measured all is good and one can live there for a century….break the rules and well, there is still hope. But why ever would One break the rules of Utopia?

Ember suffers a great loss when her mother dies. An empath, she cannot lay her feelings aside, she cannot even lay others feelings aside. It is a heavy burden to bear. She must stay happy and calm and content to meet the accords, but how when she is hurting so very badly? But all is not lost, she finally meets a Hero, Will. Celebrated for having climbed the Accords so quickly, he is someone she can count on, depend on..or is he?

I loved this book. I devoured it in a day and a night. Ross has created a world where characters are plausible and yet, pliable. Her dialogue is perfection. Secondary characters are not added for weight or filler. I did not want this to end and happily, I got my wish, this is the 1st Book in the Tranquility Series. I also tutor Nestlings and plan to use this with the older ones who need a bit of shoring up in the reading department, it is that good! This book is not just for adults. This is for ages 12 to 1112. For those not familiar with Book Dragon years, that is Eleventy-12. If you are looking to start a new series that is both freakish, tummy knotting and keeps you on your toes…this is it. It is now available in both Kindle and Paperback for reasonable prices. If you Kindle Gift it, it would be here before Christmas for that hard to buy person!
